Canada and Türkiye are entering a new phase of economic cooperation. Prime Minister Mark Carney and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan have formally launched negotiations toward a comprehensive Canada–Türkiye Free Trade Agreement. The talks could cover trade, investment, energy, critical minerals, aerospace, defence, security, and advanced technologies. Canada and Türkiye recorded more than C$4.3 billion in bilateral merchandise trade in 2025, while Canadian direct investment in Türkiye reached about C$3.3 billion. Türkiye is also exploring options for expanding its nuclear-power capacity, including potential cooperation involving Canadian CANDU technology.
