Canada is rapidly expanding its LNG export capacity—and the shift could change the country’s energy relationship with the United States.
For decades, almost all of Canada’s natural-gas exports went to the U.S. But new LNG infrastructure on British Columbia’s Pacific coast is opening direct access to buyers in Asia and Europe.
In this video, we examine LNG Canada, Cedar LNG, Woodfibre LNG and the proposed Ksi Lisims LNG project, along with the long-term contracts, pipelines, Indigenous partnerships and infrastructure behind Canada’s emerging export network.
We also look at the other side of the story: growing global LNG supply, expanding U.S. exports, potential price pressure, environmental concerns and why Canada’s energy leverage over the United States remains more complicated than the headlines suggest.
